The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides comprehensive healthcare services for women across all stages of life, from reproductive health and safe motherhood to advanced gynaecological care. Our highly skilled team of consultants, specialists, and allied health professionals is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care, supported by state-of-the-art facilities and strong partnerships.

Prof. Adetunji Oladeni Adeniji

Consultant, Feto-Maternal Medicine

Prof. Adeniji is a distinguished clinician and academic with extensive experience in maternal-fetal medicine and gynaecology. Under his leadership, the department has expanded its specialised services, enhanced postgraduate medical training, and strengthened collaborations with international partners to improve women’s health outcomes.

1. Feto-Maternal Unit

• High-risk pregnancy management and preconception care

Facilities

• Outpatient & Inpatient Care: 132-bed capacity across nine specialised wards

• Operating Theatres: Two major theatres, the labour ward theatre, and the minor procedure room

• High Dependency Unit (HDU): Four beds with advanced monitoring and a dedicated ultrasound

• Blood Bank: Modern facility with cross-matching and independent power supply

• Labour Ward: Equipped with ultrasound, CTG machines, and neonatal resuscitaires

• Rural Posting Site: Koidu Government Hospital, providing extended specialist care

Training & Research

The department is accredited for postgraduate medical training and actively engages in clinical research, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing through:

• Joint perinatal morbidity and mortality meetings

• Maternal death surveillance and response programs

• Collaborative training with local and international partners
